parent-only category filter

Currently, category filtering is only recursive which works a lot of the time. Often, though, I just want the filter to be by the parent only. Instead of having to select the parent and then unselect all the child categories, it would be more helpful to have another filter option: "Set Filter by 'parent' only". That way, I could choose whether to filter recursively or not.
