I'm prompted to save column layout often when the layout hasn't changed.
steps to reproduce:
1) in the Task List tab, bring "category" column header to the top so all tasks are grouped by category
2) bring down category column so the grouping is reset to the original and the category column is back in its original spot (a big "X" is shown on the Category column header as I bring it down)
3) hit the Resource tab and I'll be prompted as to whether I want to save the column layout - but the layout hasn't changed. _________________ -- Misha

You see, it hasn't changed for you, because you know that you put the column exactly where you had taken it from. But for the program you have changed the layout twice: when you grouped and ungrouped the columns. |

Then at least can you have an option like the following:
"Prompt to save detected column layout changes" and it can be checked by default so it will work the same way it does now. For me, I'll uncheck it and then VIP can assume that I don't want to save any column changes and just won't prompt me and I'll lose the column layout changes.
The vast majority of the time I don't want to save a new column layout - it's just for temporary purposes. But the few times that I do want to save a column layout I always remember to save it. _________________ -- Misha

You are right. It's better to make it optional. Added to the next update plan. Thanks a lot. |
